1978 SAAB has EMS badges, soccer ball wheels, and EMS dash. It also has EMS stickers inside the doors, under the interior panels. Runs and drives very well. Engine is strong and fun to drive. Paint is fair but could really use a new paint job to look great. Needs a full restoration to be perfect. It spent a large chunk of it's life in salt-free Georgia. There are some areas of rust, mostly in the bottom of the trunk from where the rear glass leaked water.
Seal on glass has been replaced. Doors look good and are not rusted. Interior is in good condition with all things functioning well, even the mileage counter(not the original). My guess from the odometers that came as parts w/ the car is that it has about 200,000 mi on the chassis, but who really knows? Has a CD player installed.

Very early 78 model EMS. It has transmission number 9000168, one of the first 4 speed manual boxes w/ the chain drive primary. The car had an original turbo tank and fuel pump as well as SAAB AC when i got it. I spoke to a previous owner, who got the car in 1984. He knew the car had been repainted from light silver to Charcoal grey in 86. I have rewired the engine, replaced the fuel tank (with a turbo one again), put some new lights on all the way around, replaced the entire exhaust w/ new, and generally knocked the cobwebs out of it. Restored most of the engine bay and body components throughout w/ new or reconditioned parts. The front end is completely rebuilt including new A arms and ball joints. I plan on recovering the seats and rebuilding the transmission soon. Maybe after that get the body restored and repainted the original color (SK-2b) over the next few years. It's a project.

Personal Notes

This car will never see the salt of Wisconsin winters as long as i own it.
